booooooooo!

I can with all honesty say that the referring at the Kelowna Rockets Hockey game last night was quite possibly the worst I have witnessed in 35 + years of playing and watching hockey. It was so bad the entire stadium, 6800 strong were in one accord Booing steadily for several minutes and then continually booed for the remaining 7 minutes of the hockey game. The referees were booed off the ice at the end of the now tied game, a direct result of a 5 minute major penalty he called during which Kootney Ice scored twice, and then booed on his return for sudden death over-time. Fortunately the players kept their composer and snatched a quick overtime goal to win the game and take a 3 games to 1 strangle hold on the serious. The crowd went wild at first when the Rockets scored but it quickly turned to booing the referees off the ice once again. Once I got settled down enough to be rational again, I started thinking about booing. I wonder who the very first person was that invented booing? Booing is the same in every language as far as I know. It is the universal noise we humans make when something happens (esp. at sporting events) that we don't like. Even the facial expressions that go with it are quite powerful. The creased eye brows, the cupped mouth that is in the shape of a sideways volcano. I cant imagine anyone wanting to be booed. It creates a mob sentiment in the crowd and it accomplished absolutely nothing! The game went on, the ref continued, not a bit of change happened from all the booing except maybe the blood pressure of a few diehard fans. So booing doesn't work, it creates a negative atmosphere for no reason at all, but somehow it still feels good at the moment. Any way, if you go to a hockey game for the entertainment you definitely got your monies worth last night.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Monday Monday

I went to the doctor yesterday for my final checkup before my two month leave of absence is up on Friday of this week. Good news on all fronts. Since starting this journey my medication has worked to a "T" and kept my BP in the 120/80 zone. Also, since starting my weight loss back near the end of February I have gone from 340 LBS down steadily to 324 LBS. So that is a net loss of 16 LBS in about a two month period, 8 LBS/mth, 2 LBS/week or about 1/2 LBS per day. Doc was very happy with my progress. I have to admit that I must keep calling upon the God of all self-control, to fiercely enable me with supernatural power to do this for I am exceeding weak on my own. I also found out that my truck will be finished by the end of today. I have benefited greatly from this time off. Thank you Lord.

finally making the move to blogging

well, i guess i have finally decided to stop writing in my journal and start blogging instead. My entries were getting fewer and fewer anyway so I thought this might spice up my weak at best efforts to keep a watchful eye on my life.
I am now entering my final week of a two month off period. My church decided after my blood pressure went through the roof and my left eye went mostly blind to give me at least a couple of months off for R & R and recovery. My laser surgery went well, and i am now back to 20/20 vision in my left eye. And by BP is stable with medication and the work of lossing wieght is slow but definatly happening. I think I worked it out to about a half pound per week on average. Yesterday I attended emmanual assembly in westbank, where the guest speaker never showed so the pastor gave one from his heart. It was really good. I was challenged to consider my level of investment into the kingdom of God in my marriage, my ministry and my gifts, time and talents.
The rest of the day was most enjoyable with lunch with my brother and sister in law, who returned from Africa missions trip bearing gifts. I got an imitation CK watch which is really nice and a little carved elephant which was cool. In the evening we went out with some friends and saw The Interpreter. I enjoyed it, it had a pretty decent story. The best line in the movie was near the end when the "bad guy" was forced at gun point to read from a book he had written many years ago. "The human voice can be heard above the guns, a whisper above the noise of an army." I enjoyed my last sunday off very much.

good dayz

nice relaxing day today. I found out that it will cost about $2500.00 to fix my truck up after my accident. Sad day! On the bright side I have enjoyed a super weekend with my Uncle Neill Foster who was the keynote speaker at a college of prayer. Excellent material called Binding and Loosing. Weapons for use in our battle to do Gods will and advance his kingdom here on earth.
