booooooooo!

I can with all honesty say that the referring at the Kelowna Rockets Hockey game last night was quite possibly the worst I have witnessed in 35 + years of playing and watching hockey. It was so bad the entire stadium, 6800 strong were in one accord Booing steadily for several minutes and then continually booed for the remaining 7 minutes of the hockey game. The referees were booed off the ice at the end of the now tied game, a direct result of a 5 minute major penalty he called during which Kootney Ice scored twice, and then booed on his return for sudden death over-time. Fortunately the players kept their composer and snatched a quick overtime goal to win the game and take a 3 games to 1 strangle hold on the serious. The crowd went wild at first when the Rockets scored but it quickly turned to booing the referees off the ice once again. Once I got settled down enough to be rational again, I started thinking about booing. I wonder who the very first person was that invented booing? Booing is the same in every language as far as I know. It is the universal noise we humans make when something happens (esp. at sporting events) that we don't like. Even the facial expressions that go with it are quite powerful. The creased eye brows, the cupped mouth that is in the shape of a sideways volcano. I cant imagine anyone wanting to be booed. It creates a mob sentiment in the crowd and it accomplished absolutely nothing! The game went on, the ref continued, not a bit of change happened from all the booing except maybe the blood pressure of a few diehard fans. So booing doesn't work, it creates a negative atmosphere for no reason at all, but somehow it still feels good at the moment. Any way, if you go to a hockey game for the entertainment you definitely got your monies worth last night.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
